Here’s how NOT to treat a customer

There’s this woman named Anne Mahlum, who runs a Solidcore gym in DC. When Ivanka Trump signed up for a class in one of her gyms under an alias, Mahlum went public, calling out the young mother, castigating her on social media for the world to see, and claiming that Ivanka Trump’s father is somehow “threatening the rights of many” of her “beloved” clients and coaches.

Just how many illegal aliens does Anne Mahlum employ? What rights are getting violated?

Oh, she didn’t elaborate on that part. She simply publicly called out Ivanka Trump for having the unmitigated gall to enter a place of business and pay for a service!

anne2And for this – because the President’s daughter dared to take a fitness class in her studio – she was publicly harassed by this Muppet on meth lookalike!

Is it any wonder Ivanka Trump used an alias? Good lord! The woman wanted to take a fitness class. She wanted some anonymity, for a damn change, after being harassed by hysterical, virtue signaling leftist shit swizzles. And instead of affording the young woman some respect as a customer and understanding as a human being, Mahlum decided to call her out.

In a follow-up email, Mahlum, ostensibly after being slammed not just on her social media page, but also in the media, tried to mitigate the situation.

“…Solidcore is an organization founded on inclusivity” and apologized if her Facebook post didn’t make that clear. She stressed that Ivanka was not denied services, and she had not said the First Daughter could not attend Solidcore. She says she wanted to meet with Ivanka to suggest private classes and “in hopes of having a discussion about our community.”

Bullshit!

The woman paid you to work out. She has zero obligation to discuss anything with you! She’s not her father. She wasn’t elected to anything. She’s not living on the taxpayer dime, and like you, she is an accomplished businesswoman, who is successful in her own right, and is and should be a role model to women. As Piers Morgan reminds us (HOLY SHIT I’M QUOTING PIERS MORGAN IN A BLOG POST IN A POSITIVE WAY!):

She graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania.

In 2007, she launched Trump Fine Jewelry and the brand sells available throughout the US and Canada, as well as the Middle East.

She then launched her own fashion line that sells in major US department stores.

She was also, until recently, Executive Vice President of Development and Acquisitions at the Trump Organisation, and served on the board of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, an industry organisation that provides support to women professionals in finance.

As I wrote recently, Ivanka Trump is involved in multiple charities and has been a rock of support for women worldwide.

Some of the charities she supports are Habitat for Humanity, AIDS Life, the Children’s Aid Society, United Cerebral Palsy, and the Walkabout Foundation. And in 2010, Ivanka designed and sold a bracelet specifically to benefit the United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up campaign, which “aims to raise money and awareness to educate and propel adolescent girls in need to the next generation of leadership.”

And yet, she has been harassed, her business has been the target of boycotts, and she has been denigrated by the “tolerant” compatriots of Anne Mahlum for something as innocent as tweeting a photo of herself holding her baby – merely because they don’t like her dad.

And now, she can’t even take a fitness class in peace without being harassed by this rude harpy.

Anne Mahlum doesn’t just not comprehend the concept of fair treatment of her customers, she also doesn’t seem to understand what it means to be a decent human being and business owner.

She outed a client, who was obviously looking for some privacy and paid her to provide a service: fitness training.

She harassed her customer on social media, for no other reason than who her father is, and because apparently she had the gall to come into her place of business thinking she would… you know… pay for a service.

She virtue signaled her disdain for the President by publicly abusing his daughter, and when called out on her shitbaggery, backpedaled and fell back on the “inclusivity” damage control trope. Did she not think her jerkery would have consequences?

Inclusivity, my aching ass! She’s “inclusive,” as long as her clients toe her ideological line. And if they don’t, she compromises their privacy, calls them out publicly, and makes it difficult for them to do something as simple as take an exercise class!

You don’t have to agree with 45’s policies. You don’t have to like him personally. But there’s a way to do so without being a shit human being.

Maybe Anne Mahlum missed that memo.

Only to the “right” businesses. I’ll never understand how the left gets away with A) hating, committing violence, etc., while B) preaching against hate, violence, etc., and C) ascribing those sentiments and actions to the right, with all the evidence going the other way. It’s all so transparent and obvious, a toddler can see what’s going on. And yet here you are, doing it again.

  2. Dear Ivanka,

I understand that some braindead ‘other’phobic gym owner didn’t want you as a customer.
That’s fine. Save your money. If you want to meet up with me, it’s a 3.5 mile hike morning with a backpack, all weather. You can swing weights while you’re at it. You can bring your dog or kids, too. Costs nothing except your time.
Just bring a can of bear spray and an airhorn with you, or maybe a bucket of KFC. Occasionally, I see coyotes.

    Yours sincerely,

Yeah, regarding the bidness owner, it’s possible she’ll get so much backlash from this that she’ll lose all her bidness and have to shut her doors or sell it. This attention-whoring syndrome display is losing its attractiveness, except to the rads who think it’s cute to be assholes.

But we’ll probably see more stuff like this for a while, and then it will begin to fade, especially if it results in the kind of destructiveness that occurred at UC-Berserkeley last week. I really do think these people need their own planet.

    I must be getting old.

She may reasonable believe it is not safe to use the facility now. How is that not a denial of service? It’s not as obvious as locking the doors but it has the same effect.

        1. Couple of things there. A friend of mine who is a fitness instructor told me that, at least at her gym, they do ask for a customer’s real name due to liability issues and if there’s a medical emergency. Also, she was offered private instruction, so no denial of service took place. That said, you just don’t treat a customer that way! You don’t get in their face, pushing your agenda, because her father happens to be the president. It’s unprofessional and disgusting. And I hope that woman pays dearly.

  5. A good few months ago, there was a similar virtue-signalling kerfuffle, when Ivanka bought (IIRC) a silver ear cuff from a little female-owned jewelry enterprise, and wore it at a big event. The owner or owners of the jewelry enterprise made a big too-do of shaming Ivanka for purchasing and wearing their little item. My daughter was infuriated – she also has a Tiny Jewelry and Ornament enterprise, and if anyone in the public eye had ever ordered and worn one of her items, (even Michelle O.) she would have thanked them graciously and privately, and been grateful for the exposure. Instead – these tw*ts are shooting themselves in the foot,

If what I have gathered so far is true, Ivanka is rather a main-line upper-middle-class New York cosmopolitan matron, as well as being a woman-supporting business owner. These boycotters and virtue-signallers could have had a solid champion in her as far as certain social issues go … but no, they hate her father – and she must be punished as an apostate, or something.

  6. Clearly, someone has an overactive derpathalmus. That’s the gland that releases derpamine, a hormone that makes people into blithering idiots at certain forms of stimuli. In this case, the derpamine triggered (yes, that word is used on purpose) this business owner to single out a customer who could have helped her business grow substantially, kind of like how her father has triggered such derpamine-based reactions in legions of others.

Derpathalmus Overstimulation Disorder is a real thing, and these people need our help. Currently, the leading treatment is extensive mockery, and does not require a prescription.

Please, help combat Derpathalmus Overstimulation Disorder.

As for the current political situation, I’m not a Trumpist at the strict sense of the word; however, the unprecedented uproar the establishment is making against the newly-elected President is strongly disturbing. It looks like the real forces of evil, which have always been operating stealthily, sometimes in the open, sometimes in the underground, resolved to furiously show up to hamper and destroy any attempt to correct ingrained mistakes by past administrations.

Well, I hope new developments lead to an appeasement of the general animus.

  12. It really does boggle the mind. Just when you think you have seen how low the left can stoop, they dig a hole, and go even deeper. I keep waiting for them to attack Barron Trump again. It is just a matter of time. And I haven’t heard much anti-Semitism aimed at Jerod Kushner yet, either. Of course, the Democrats are too busy waging war at the cabinet. I think it is cute, them fighting a war that they have no chance of winning, when there is so much else that they could be doing. I mean, they could not even keep Betsy Devos out, and she is the least qualified to run a huge department of them all. But go on and keep mugging for the t.v. cameras, instead of trying to come up with some strategy of how to approach Trump in a way that perhaps he will listen to you. Because Trump is a narcissist, but he is not stupid. If approached in the right way, with ideas that make sense for the American people and for his agenda, he can be dealt with. Or perhaps the Democrats should be trying to figure how to get their collective heads out of their asses and come up with a candidate who actually has a chance of winning next time. Because of the two who they put up last time, neither one had a snowballs chance in hell of beating the top 4 or 5 of the Republicans. And I have news for them, the next Messiah isn’t Elizabeth Warren, who has just about as much baggage as Hillary did, but none of the political machine that she did. Bernie is too old, and his kids are going to be burned out and trying to support themselves by the time 2020 rolls around. Here is one way the Democrats could become relevant again, and gain instant support from both the left who abandoned them and from those who moved over to the right. Shut down the violent protesters. Don’t say that they don’t have the ability to do it. All they have to do is reach across the aisle and say, “Enough, it is time to clean up this nonsense.” If the republicans know what is good for them, they will jump on board and figure out how to do it, and have some kind of bill on the presidents desk before Easter, or they can kiss not only both houses goodbye, but also the presidency next time. I am sure that they can figure out a way to stop it without trampling on anybodies rights. That is their job. If not, maybe it is time to start talking VERY loudly about term limits.

      1. These radical left wingers of course are only supporting themselves and propping up each other. I was born in 1960, and remember a bit of the Vietnam protests, and at least then, the protests had a cause, and even when they turned violent, it was often because of overreaction by the police or the national guard and not the protesters themselves. These people, as you pointed out, are protesting simply for the sake of protesting, and were it not for the professional protesters funded by the likes of George Soros, et al, might not even be out there. That doesn’t make them any less dangerous for the immediate area or even for our republic. I have wondered if we are not already in a civil war, and just don’t realize it yet. And if so, when was the first shot fired, when Trump was elected, or a long time ago, perhaps when Obama was elected. I hope that I am just being overly dramatic.

        1. Civil War…? They better hope not. Right now they are NOT being stopped – which I think is wrong – especially when they start burning, looting, destroying. BUT….that is what the left tolerates, and it’s happening. I think if they went into full force and started burning cities, either the police, Nat. guard – or the citizens would rise up.

I can tell you, if a crowd was coming down my residential street throwing firebombs into the houses as they came by them…there would be dozens and dozens of dead ones before they got to MY house. Not, not over dramatic – just THAT’s what would happen if the police allow such. Dozens. As fast as I could reload. Maybe even hundreds……..

But burning a campus or looting a store downtown? That is the gov’ts job to stop them when it feels like it.

Regarding the phrase “shooting themselves in the foot” – I collect international slang. It’s fun when you realize that pretty much all cultures have slang for the same sorts of things, because human experience is pretty much universal.

The other day, an Iranian colleague told me that the Persian slang for this is “Hammering yourself in the balls. ” But in this circumstance, that would be sexist. Or triggering, or something that sets off the derpathalamus.

  19. Quote: ” She says she wanted to meet with Ivanka to suggest private classes…”

In other words, she wants Ivanka to come around to the back entrance—where she wouldn’t be seen by her regular clientele. Yeah, that’s a lot like “white only’ businesses during the era when the Democratic party championed segregation. It’s offering “separate but [not quite] equal fitness classes.”

We’re seeing bogus arguments all around for what’s either bigotry or a fear of it. You see that with Nordstorms, Sears and others who claim that low sales are leading them to drop Ivanka’s line, while at the same time leftists shriek that Ivanka’s high visibility as First Daughter is, they say, be unfairly increasing her sales. The former should be eagerly awaiting the additional sales Ivanka will bring them. The latter certainly aren’t going to complain when Obama and Hillary use their name recognition to puff their book sales.

I grew up in the South during the last days of segregation. Segregation and white rule had been brutally imposed on Southerners in the 1870s by Klan-led violence. It was then maintained well into the 1960s with social ostracism of the sort you see in To Kill a Mockingbird. We’re seeing glimpses of the violence of the former in leftist strongholds such as college campuses. This mistreatment of Ivanka illustrates the latter. Same song, second verse. Even the political party hasn’t changed.

One more remark. While Ivanka’s work with organizations that help girls is to be commended, we should keep in mind that in all fairness men—including politicans and business leaders—who work with organizations that help boys succeed deserve equal commendation.
