#IWillProtectYou

I read a story today that I haven’t seen covered in any news outlet. An 8-year-old girl ran to her mother recently terrified of something she saw on the news:

Sofia had been watching the news with her grandmother, when she heard about Donald Trump’s call to deport refugees and ban Muslims from entering America.

“She ran to me with a look of absolute fear on her face,” Melissa told Upworthy.

Sofia, who is 8 years old, was convinced that Trump wanted to kick her and her family, who are Muslim β€” and American citizens β€” out of the country.

Sofia’s mom was understandably upset, and posted her frustration on her Facebook page a few days ago.

I’m proud to say that many American veterans have responded just the way they should – by publicly announcing their intent to protect children – ALL children, regardless of their faith.

The Twitter hashtag #IWillProtectYou was created just for this, and many veterans, including myself, have made the pledge to Sofia – and every child – that they would be protected.

Because no child should fear being kicked out of heir homeland because of their faith.

Because no child should be scared that it’s government will imprison, discriminate against them, or deprive hem of their rights, no matter what God they worship – or don’t.

Because every child deserves a childhood free from fear that some megalomaniacal, narcissistic dick weasel, who bought himself a country, will boot them from their home.

Because no child should fear government force.

Because we – as service members – swore an oath to protect this nation and her Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, and that includes the aforementioned megalomaniacal, narcissistic dick weasels who want to turn this nation into a fascist shithole.

Because we – as service members – understand the true meaning of honor.

Because we – as service members – protect the innocent. It’s what we do.

Because we – as service members – will not stand idly by and allow those smaller and weaker than us to be abused by those in power.

Because we – as service members – are sheepdogs.

And because I truly believe that those of us who made the commitment to serve will not obey the orders of a sad, bigoted, narcissist, who doesn’t give a rat’s flying fuck about America, and who is obviously compensating for his inadequate genitalia by buying himself a country – even if the meathead contingency in this country is somehow stupid enough to place this leftist turd in sheep’s clothing in the White House.

#IWillProtectYou

And I hope my fellow vets will as well.

  1. “Because no child should fear government force. ”

Corrected: Because no person of any age or origin should fear government force.

I’m 70, disabled, retired on a very limited income. I own my home, but the day I can no longer pay the property tax here, I will be faced with eviction at gun point.

The threats don’t just come from Washington, the district of criminals. It is the same tyranny across the board, in every town and wide place in the road.

Muslims are far from being the only object of that tyranny. Maybe even less these days.

And thanks, but I’m not a sheep and don’t need or want a “sheepdog.” I just want to be left alone to control my own life.

  2. Thanks for the post, Nikki. I think that you probably speak for a majority of servicemen and women, past and present. I am probably a little prejudiced as I have a son in the military, but I figure a high percentage of our military personal and vets are honorable and feel the same way and won’t stand by and allow anyone to hurt OUR children. I never served, but I stand with them.

    1. Well, my daughter is a Marine, and my son will likely be shipping off to Army basic training this summer. I’m positive those two would flip Trump the bird at the slightest opportunity.:)

  3. I must admit I’m torn – between wanting to tell Trump to shut the f*@#!k up or just politely asking him to step aside and let an adult take his place.

He needs a smack upside the head. He’s no longer amusing, just a loud-mouthed, abrasive jerk doing this for the shock value. When has he ever addressed real issues in a real way? Never.

I wouldn’t get too wound up over this. It’s just more of his attention-whoring. He does, however, make the other candidates look better every time he opens his silly mouth.

Oh yes they should, and every adult too. Government is a very dangerous thing. It should be kept small, poor and weak, so that no one would have reason to fear it.

  5. I understand your sentiments regarding his muslim commentary, yet I am confused why it is this commentary and at this moment you get your feathers ruffled when we Americans are being threatened by enemies domestic via the current president and yet you don’t threaten them with “Because we – as service members – will not stand idly by and allow those smaller and weaker than us to be abused by those in power. ”

This puffery is too little, too late.

    1. So American citizens who happen to be Muslim should live in fear, because somehow they’re not real Americans in your estimation? My “feathers” are not ruffled “at this moment.” I am not just a veteran, but also a mom, and the idea of anyone’s innocent child being scared enough to start packing her little bags because of the rhetoric coming from that boated assbag is abhorrent.

You’ve obviously not read much of what I have written if you think this is simple “puffery,” while somehow the current abuses are being ignored. Why don’t you read a bit before coming over here and waxing offensive?

  7. Could it be the child’s fears have more to do with those who misrepresent Trump’s ideas for their own purposes?

    1. She’s a child. She got scared. She’s not capable of news analysis like adults are. Service members stood up and told her they would protect her. That’s all.
