Zero Tolerance Stupidity, Part…. oh I don’t even know!

In this edition of zero tolerance sense dumbassery, a little boy gets punished for doing what ostensibly is “the right thing.”

A 7-year-old boy western Pennsylvania boy who turned himself in after accidentally bringing a toy gun to school has been suspended for two days but will not be expelled.

The kid apparently forgot his bookbag at a friend’s house, so mom gave him another bag, which contained what was clearly a toy gun.

The little guy knew that he could get in trouble for bringing the toy to school, given the academic asshattery surrounding anything that could be used as a weapon on school property (can’t wait to see what happens the first time some kid stabs another with a pencil! Oh, wait…), so he brought the toy to the teacher and turned it in just like he was indoctrinated into doing.

The result?

A suspension.

At what point do we admit that this idiocy does nothing but land good kids in hot water and ruin lives? At what point do we boot the idiot teachers and administrators who destroy these children for no reason out and not allow them near kids again until they learn some common sense?

  1. Actually, I understand “zero tolerance.” I’d expel any kid who brought a gun to school, too. What I WOULDN’T do is expel a kid for bringing a squirt gun, a cap pistol or any other OBVIOUS toy, or a picture of a gun into a school. That’s not “zero tolerance.” It’s pure stupidity.

  2. I wonder how many baseball bats and golf clubs you can find in the average HS? Yes I realize this is grad school. If I could tell the mom one thing it would be Home-school.

    1. Another thing this teaches our young people. Be HONEST and you’ll be punished. Just how STUPID can these people get do you suppose?

  3. It isn’t just in schools. How about the guy who, after passing airport security, realized he’d got past the checkpoint with a handgun in his briefcase, and as he left the secured zone to return the gun to his car, showed it to security to let them know they weren’t doing as good of a job as they should, and got arrested? Arrive at the checkpoint with a prohibited item, and you’re supposed to be given the option to leave with it, and return without it to clear security. But when security doesn’t notice the prohibited item, and you get past security with it, and then they find out about it, you’re arrest for smuggling it in. So when they fail, you go to prison. Yeah, that makes about as much sense as a asking what does the sound that the color red make taste like?

  5. This happened to high schooler as well with a real knife at a football game. He realized he’d accidentally brought it, immediately turned it in, and got either suspended or expelled.

  6. It was the politically correct penalty to do by school teachers. Forget about the little boy doing the right thing. Teachers have way too much power over our society.
