The relationship between humans and animals is a beautiful thing (38 Photos)

Yeah, I cried at some of these photos. The bond between humans and animals is a beautiful thing.

  1. Reposted on my FB. I said if anyone can see these and not shed a tear or two, there is something wrong with them. When i got into the animal rescue movement many years ago, it was one of the best things I’ve ever experienced. Right now, three of my four dogs are rescues. There is no love in the world like the love that animals give to their people.

    1. How beautiful and true. Both my huge Saint Bernard and my ginger kitty are rescues. My silver cat died of cancer last year, and he was a strayer took in. There’s no love like that anywhere. They’re our children.

  2. Those were sweet photos, thanks for sharing. Our pets really share in our joys and our burdens. One time I fell asleep with a candle lit and my cat woke me up before it became a full blown fire (the plate was on fire in the kitchen). Then he went and checked on the baby.

    1. Hope you saw the now-viral video of the family cat that chased off a dog who was attacking their kid. the dog had knocked the toddler down and was dragging him when suddenly the cat comes flying in like a superhero and launches himself at the dog, who drops the kid and hauls out of there.

  3. Wow… teary eyes indeed… had to go sit and scratch all my “kids” itchy spots after seeing this. I go to the other side of the Chive web site (the Brigade.the Chive) regularly to remember the good’ole… bad’ole… but my ONLY’ole days but missed this… KCCO Ms. NIcki!

  4. Wow, definitely got the tears flowing. My wife and I have cats. Our first cat, Kole was abandoned by his owners. He was declawed on his front paws, and they constantly left him outside in the worst weather. When they moved out of our apartment complex, they left him behind. We had him form from 2005 to May of 2012. We had to put him to sleep because of cancer that left a huge tumor on his tongue. The day Kole left us, my wife and I went to a no kill shelter, and were adopted by two lovable kittens, Misty, a Maine Coon, and Azrael, a pure black domestic short hair. These wonderful creatures are fully a part of our family. Reading the story of Mason really pulled at my heart. Thanks for the story, and thanks for your great blog!

    1. Since my wife passed away last year, at night the four large dogs and Bob the Cat all pile into the bed with me, and eventually we all fit together, and there is nothing I know of that comforts a person like the presence of warm, furry embodiments of the purest distillation of love, surrounding him and nestling against him. Each of these stories and videos and photos is a reminder that God has blessed us so very much with whatever family He has graced us – whether two legged or four legged, flesh, fur or feather – it is all love.
