Respect for Life

My latest for JPFO.

via Respect for Life.

Because the right to life necessarily carries with it the right to protect that life, and the right to protect your life necessitates the use of the most effective tool you can find today. That tool is a firearm.

If you have to beg permission from bureaucrats and politicians, who more often than not hire armed security, or have connections that make it easy to secure authorization to exercise their rights, even as they work to relieve you of yours, to protect your life with the most effective tool available, you can consider that right effectively destroyed.

The fact that you have to justify defending your life at all, reveals volumes about their lack of respect for your life and exposes their twisted endgame – not to protect life, but to rule over a powerless populace, dependent on them for their very existence.

  1. Thank you. The point you make is more than important.

  2. My summary:

Without the right of self defense and the means to carry that out, you have no rights at all.

  3. As I returned from the range with our 2 kids the other evening I had a strange conversation with one of the ladies in my wife’s book club (who was very pregnant). She saw their proud targets and big grins and commented that they did not allow guns in their house; her husband was a pacifist and would never use force to stop a burglar, as someone had recently done in our town. I asked her how about a rapist or murderer? She said they would call the cops.
I was incredulous at not just her silly ignorance thinking the police could protect her, but the hypocrisy of their pacifism. They believed using force to protect themselves was repugnant, yet would happily call an armed policeman to visit violence on the intruder on their behalf.
Kinda like the gun hating celebrities and politicians who are surrounded by armed bodyguards.
Arguing with these folks is like telling the King he has no clothes…

  4. Nicki – I received my signed copy of “Freehold” in today’s mail. I was mildly disappointed that Mr. Williamson had not included the “snarky comment” you had promised, though. ; ).

  5. The one single basic right is to act to continue your existance, it is exercised by all living things. All other rights derive form this. Civilization is the attempt to peacefully balance my rights with yours.

    1. It cannot be “peaceful” when a substantial percentage of a given population is intent on REMOVING the means of self-defense from those who recognize it as an absolute necessity, however.
