Media chain decides publishing gun owners’ information is a really bad idea

Do you remember that time that newspaper in New York published those addresses of those gun owners after the Sandy Hook massacre, and how the outrage was so pervasive, the entire editorial staff got the boot?

Apparently, according to Fox News, another newspaper chain was considering doing something similar.

The good news is that plan was rejected.

A message from the CEO appeared this afternoon on the Media’s website.

Civitas Media never had any plans or intentions of publishing in print or online lists of holders of “conceal and carry” permits.  Nor will Civitas Media develop databases of permit holders.  A poorly crafted internal memo meant to highlight editorial discussions and planning incorrectly indicated that such a database was being planned; it has been considered and rejected.

Michael C. Bush, CEO

It is interesting how quickly Civitas reacted to gun owners’ outrage. They apparently learned their lesson from another little outfit that saw it fit to endanger law-abiding citizens for the sake of their ridiculous anti-freedom agenda. Now, let’s see if I remember what happened correctly.

First, the names of the reporters were published all over the Interwebz, as well as their addresses.

The paper’s advertisers were targeted.

And then there were lawsuits.

And some freak shithead decided to be funny and mail some unidentified white powder to the newspaper’s offices – something I do NOT in any way condone (just in case you were wondering).

And then there were mass firings.

Yeah, I’m fairly sure anyone with half a brain cell would reject this plan and fire the fuckwit who even suggested it!

  1. There’s a certain amount of insanity involved, when you target those that have firearms. Considering the past of the progressive movement, it’s a wonder there’s not a bounty on the entire lot and group hunts on the weekend.

  2. Two words – Constitutional Carry. It’s nobody’s business if I carry and my great state recognizes that.

  3. It’s interesting how progressives yammer about the “Constitutional right to privacy” regarding abortion, but feel free to violate your privacy for exercising the second amendment!

    1. No kidding, right?
