David Gregory update (With… Um… UPDATE)

I did promise to update with any information I had on odious media maggot David Gregory, who brandished a perfectly illegal magazine on Meet the Press a few weeks ago, in order to somehow provide validity to his hoplophobic histrionics.

A petition to press charges against Gregory for illegal possession of said magazine on the White House website has reached 17,708 signatures. Only 7,292 are needed for the administration to respond. Here’s what the petition says:

David Gregory is not above the law; he is a journalist, and must be held accountable to the same law as every other person.

DC High Capacity Ammunition Magazines – D.C. Official Code 7-2506.01

(b) No person in the District shall possess, sell, or transfer any large capacity ammunition feeding device regardless of whether the device is attached to a firearm. For the purposes of this subsection, the term large capacity ammunition feeding device means a magazine, belt, drum, feed strip, or similar device that has a capacity of, or that can be readily restored or converted to accept, more than 10 rounds of ammunition.

We The People demand that he be formally charged for violation of this law on “Meet The Press.”

While I agree with the points in the petition, I’m not sure the Administration has the authority to do anything about this. It’s a violation of a DC code, not a federal law, so I would think this is way out of the Obama Administration’s jurisdiction.

But who the hell knows… I’m certainly not a lawyer.

And while this law is ridiculous and a violation of the Second Amendment, the stupid law should be applied equally. But apparently in the eyes of the petty tyrants at DC’s Metro PD, and their resident tyrannical dominatrix police chief, arresting a military veteran for carrying some loose ammo in his bag and saddling him with a criminal record is OK, but applying the law equally to a media douchebag who is guilty of exactly the same offense is beyond the pale. He’s special.

UPDATE: Looks like DC Metro PD have completed their investigation of the media maggot and have turned the case over to the DC Attorney General.

In an e-mail, a spokeswoman for D.C. Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier said her department has “completed the investigation into this matter, and the case has been presented to the OAG for a determination of the prosecutorial merit of the case.”

Think he’ll wind up with a criminal record like SPC Adam Meckler? Don’t count on it.

  1. Well , it looks like this event will be swept under the rug ! I can’t believe I was actually naive enough to think that the D.C.police would enforce the law on a media whore . ( sarcasm intended ) . So much for the old ” Justice is blind ” routine……………..

  2. Question: has any concerned citizen of DC filed a police report about a man, matching the description of David Gregory, waving illegal firearms around on that day and at that time and at the proper location? Police won’t arrest “important people” just because the law was broken; the need a scapegoat/instigator.

  3. Chicago politics in D.C. It isn’t what you did that matters. It is what you can do for someone else. Gregory is useful.

  4. Point of order: Since when has ‘not having the authority’ mattered a blessed blue fuck to this administration?
