What the bleeding fuck is “legitimate rape?”

Really… why the hell do we let these ignorant assnuggets become legislators?

Rep. Todd Akin, a tea party candidate who is challenging incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the closely watched race, was asked in a local television interview about whether he supports access to abortion in the case of rape.

“If abortion could be considered in case of, say, a tubal pregnancy [which threatens the mother’s life], what about in the case of rape?” asked KTVI host Charles Jaco, in a clip that was disseminated by Talking Points Memo. “Should it be legal or not?”

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare,” Akin said, referring to conception following a rape. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not attacking the child.”

According to a 1996 study by the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, an estimated 32,101 pregnancies result from rape each year. The journal put the national rape-related pregnancy rate at 5% among victims age 12 to 45.

This tool sits on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology! I wonder if he gets his information from the same source that told Michele Bachmann that the HPV vaccine results in mental retardation.

So now Akin is backing away from these comments, claiming he misspoke.  And, of course, the obligatory licking of evangelical ass that accompanies said remarks.

Akin also said in the statement he believes “deeply in the protection of all life and I do not believe that harming another innocent victim is the right course of action.”

You know what? I appreciate the abortion debate, and I understand passions run high on both sides of the debate. But until Todd Akin experiences the raw humiliation, the violation, the violence and the pain of being sexually violated, he really should shut the fuck up about “legitimate rape.” This bag of dicks obviously has no comprehension that a rape victim doesn’t need a band of politicians treating her like an incubator, and that doing so without any kind of understanding of the violence and violation that she has been put through is indecent and immoral.

I really hate politicians! Really!

  1. I may be off the wall here, but I think what he means by “legitimate rape” is actual rape, as opposed to any of myriad forms of consensual sex. I don’t think he’s trying to make rape legitimate, as in it being a non-crime.

    1. My point is that until he has a cock forcibly stuffed in his ass or his mouth, he should have no business pontificating about the “legitimacy” of rape and CERTAINLY he should stop trying to perpetuate scientific falsehoods.

  2. Yep, this story made my day, as this dickwad is in fact the Republican candidate for Senate here in my home state. The alternative is Democrat Claire McCaskill, one of Obama’s staunchest supporters. The NYTImes reports that McCaskill backers spent $2 million dollars in attack ads pointing out Akins’s conservative positions, on the theory that she’d rather face this mental giant than any of the other candidates in the primary. It looks like this might be a case of money well spent if the guy’s going to keep handing them material like this. Come November, I’ll probably be holding my nose and voting, but God, what a choice! I feel a migraine coming on.

  3. I investigated one particular rape once upon a time…the guy stuck an gun against the girl’s head and put his dick in her mouth. She wasn’t going to get pregnant from it, but it was sure as hell a legitimate rape.

We caught the guy, and he fell on his way to the police car and broke his nose. And collarbone. Shit happens. She served us coffee at a local convenience store and was a sweet kid. He got 25 to life.
