Against All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic

There are apparently some folks concerned that the death of Islamic Asshole al-Awlaki somehow violates… I dunno… something…

But it is worth noting that the United States government has killed a United States citizen without any judicial sanction, merely on an executive branch decision. A line has been crossed, and there are people on both the left and right side of the political spectrum who are given pause by the precedent and prospects for the future.

I have no sympathy at all for Alwaki, and am glad the man is dead. But knowing that our president can order an American killed with no apparent checks and balances ought to give us all pause. We need to create a better legal framework for operations, one which respects our constitutional order, appropriate to the era of Islamic terror.

OK, let’s not shed too many tears over the demise of our Constitutional order. Our troops and our intelligence community folks take a similar oath:

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

People in the intelligence community take a similar oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

And Awlaki was an enemy.  I don’t care if he was a citizen of this country or any other. He waged war against the United States, and it was quite possibly the dirtiest war ever. He convinced troubled, impressionable people to kill themselves and take innocent people with them. He taught them that murder was virtuous. He didn’t care who died when his bloody minions strapped bombs to themselves or went on a shooting spree. He told them it was virtuous to kill disarmed innocents, and he waged his dirty battle against every last one of us.

That makes him a domestic enemy. That makes him an enemy of the United States and an enemy of our Constitution, as well as an enemy of the American people. As veterans, we have sworn to defend our land, our laws and our people against enemies such as Awlaki.

In killing that swine, our government was doing exactly what it is its function to do – protecting the citizens of the United States from violence and aggression.

Good job, guys!

Good Riddance

Anwar al-Aulaqi is being sodomized by pigs in hell.  Another twisted fundamentalist swine bites the dust thanks to our CIA drones!

Anwar al-Aulaqi, a radical U.S.-born Muslim cleric and one of the most influential al-Qaeda operatives wanted by the United States, was killed Friday in an airstrike in northern Yemen, authorities said, eliminating a prominent recruiter who inspired attacks on U.S. soil.

In Washington, a senior Obama administration official confirmed that Aulaqi is dead.

A U.S. counterterrorism official said intelligence indicates that the 40-year-old cleric, a dual national of the United States and Yemen, perished in an attack on his convoy by a U.S. drone and jet, the Associated Press reported.

I propose allocating more funding for unmanned drones in the defense budget.  Let’s ensure that very filthy fundamentalist pig gets a big missile enema!

Government in your fridge

We already know New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is a Totalitarian Bag of Ass™. In 2009, New York adopted legal restrictions on trans fats in restaurants, forced salt reductions and banned smoking in privately-owned establishments – something I, even as a non-smoker, find morally offensive and antithetical to the very idea of freedom.

Of course the Totalitarian Bag of Ass™ never cared much about freedom. The Second Amendment is just another speed bump to overcome on his way to a statist utopia, where everyday, law-abiding citizens are disarmed and forced to rely upon the state for their safety and their very lives.

That’s why he had no problem advocating further government intrusion into your lives at the latest United Nations General Assembly summit on communicable diseases by vocally advocating nanny state mandates for health solutions. If you’re not sure what that means, imagine turning on your TV and seeing ads condemning all those yummy snacks you love to eat. Imagine the nanny state imposing extra taxes on your guilty pleasures (keep away from my Cheetos, assholes!). Imagine government requirements making pizza “healthy,” so that your greasy pepperoni and extra cheese thick, greasy pan crust turns into a dry piece of cardboard piled with tofu squares and low-fat, low-flavor cheese. Imagine this.

Then consider if you want the likes of Bloomberg or another petty tyrant in a three-piece suit telling you what you should eat… for your own good, of course.

“There are powers only governments can exercise, policies only governments can mandate and enforce and results only governments can achieve. To halt the worldwide epidemic of non-communicable diseases, governments at all levels must make healthy solutions the default social option. That is ultimately government’s highest duty.”

And here I thought the government’s highest duty was to protect the populace from violence by enforcing laws to protect individual rights.

When will the American public get sick of this garbage and start asserting its rights by voting these oppressive overlords out?

How does the social contract in any form translate to Bloomberg and his ilk sticking their extremities in your fridge or pantry?

Enough is enough!

Chicks with guns

My kids have been able to handle guns safely and effectively since they were little.  The Redhead has been handling guns under supervision since he was four years old. Teeny was around seven or eight when she first handled a pistol. They’ve been both able to recite gun safety rules since before they could tie their own shoes.

I truly believe making guns less taboo and teaching children to safely handle them is the best way to prevent injury and death.  It’s the best way to teach them self reliance and focus. And it’s the best way to foster responsibility.

I also truly believe, as a woman, being defenseless against an armed attacker – without a tool of self defense – because some foolish politician wets his panties at the thought of an armed citizenry – just makes no sense. None.

Apparently there are a lot of women like me out there.

Based on polling research and gun-sale statistics, an estimated 15 million to 20 million women in the United States own their own firearms. Dozens of those heat-packing women are documented in “Chicks with Guns,” a new book by photographer Lindsay McCrum that is sure to challenge almost anyone’s assumptions about gun ownership.

“I was so surprised by the variety and breadth and diversity of these women,” McCrum said. “There are so many stereotypes about guns, mostly derived from popular culture, but the reality is so much more complex and varied than you can imagine.”

“Chicks with Guns” reveals just how true that is. The book features nearly 80 portraits and captions in which women describe the role of guns in their lives in their own words. It quickly becomes apparent that rich women, poor women, young women, old women, athletic women, sedentary women and a fair number of confident girls possess guns for reasons that are peculiarly their own.

This is something I always knew. The reasons for owning guns are many, and the diversity of the women who own guns and shoot is vast.  Sports… hunting… teaching… personal safety…

No matter what their reasons, these women have one thing in common: they have respect for the tool and are unafraid to talk about it.

I’m glad MSNBC actually treated the subject with respect.

Hey, Pakistan!

Fuck you!

Pakistan warned the United States on Tuesday to stop accusing it of playing a double game with Islamist militants and heaped praise on “all-weather friend” China.

Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, speaking exclusively to Reuters, said any unilateral military action by the United States to hunt down militants of the Haqqani network inside Pakistan would be a violation of his country’s sovereignty.

However, he side-stepped questions on the tense relations with the United States and offered no indications of any steps Pakistan might take to soothe the fury in Washington.

You have been hiding the world’s most murderous terrorist for years… near the largest military community in the country… in a middle of a populous neighborhood… and you bitched and whined when we finally went in and did what you wouldn’t do.

You support the Taliban. Fuck, you CREATED them!  You run Lashkar-y-Tayyiba.

You hamper our efforts to fight terrorism in any way you can.

Your military and intelligence are a bunch of terrorists responsible for the deaths of Americans.

And you still feel entitled to the billions you receive to keep your festering shithole of a country just a rung above Stone Age, while sticking your tongue up China’s ass?

Tell ya what. We’ll withdraw our aid, and you can ask China to pay your way.

Better yet… how about we turn your rancid pit of a nation into a glass parking lot!

I love this photo that shows a bunch of those savages yelling for America to “GO.”  Let’s do it. Just make sure we take our money with us!
